Celler Can Roca*** is a famous restaurant in Girona run by Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca. Since 2009 it has 3 Michelin stars and in 2013 and 2015 it was named the best restaurant in the world according to Restaurant Magazine. It is a restaurant where people from all over the world come to experience this experience. The waiting time for a reservation is usually almost a year.
The kitchen focuses on traditional Catalan cuisine where the dishes are served in a very modern style. Girona is located in the north of Catalonia and much use is made of local products from that region.
Why is this restaurant so special to us? As a sommelier, Josep Roca is responsible for the wines in the restaurant. Just as the restaurant makes extensive use of local produce, Josep also has a strong preference for local wines. He has a keen eye for quality wine from small wineries, just like we strive for. Coincidentally, we (without knowing it in advance) currently have three wines in our range that are served at Celler Can Roca*** : the gastronomically versatile Sasserra, the (perhaps) best red wine from the Trepat grape made by Carles Andreu and the modern style Priorat called Cor de Pedra.
