'Unplugged' is how Albert Jané calls his wines from Acustic Celler. The trick is to let the old vines speak of the native grape varieties. Albert does this by applying traditional methods of maintaining the vineyards and making the wines. He himself says the following about this:
“When we call a wine 'acoustic', rather than 'electric', we mean a wine that digs into the roots, values and originality of traditional winemaking. Wine made only from grape varieties that have been cultivated here for many years, as opposed to the globalization of 'cosmetic' and made wines from international grape varieties.
We believe that traditional grape varieties are best able to express the character and identity of a region and its culture. We want to convey individuality, history, landscape and personality of Montsant through our wines. Acoustic, unique, pure, imperfect, non-cosmetic wines, based on the strength of old vines."
The Acustic bodega consists of 54 hectares, with vines of Garnatxa, Garnatxa Blanca, Carinyena and Pansal, spread over several vineyards in DO Montsant. The vines are between 25 and 70 years old.
